Stoneware, various glaze finishes
2020
This inaugural tableware collection designed for the young British brand Monoware consists of a core collection of hard working everyday stoneware items including cups, plates, bowls, a jug and a serving platter. The collection is made in portugal by a family owned factory that fire the wares just once. This involves glazing raw and vulnerable clay shapes (known as greenware) before they go into the kiln to be fired. It takes a high level of technical skill to ensure the shapes don’t deform during this process, but saves a huge amount of energy.
